April 1, 2018: Both Parts of Easter

Easter Sunday holds a special meaning for me. When Andy and I started dating five years ago, I met his family on Easter Sunday. I first thought I was only meeting his parents, which that alone is a big step. It turned out that I was meeting Andy’s entire family that day: his parents and siblings. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it turned out to be a lovely gathering. I enjoyed taking part in a tradition his family shared every year.

The past couple years I visit my family in Paterson for Easter on Saturday, and I share Easter with Andy’s family on Sunday. Special holidays such as this one needs to be spent with family. At times it feels like I’m expecting too much, yet the way I see things, it’s so difficult to find time to see my immediate family, so I try to soak up as much time possible when the holidays come around.
