Month: November 2018

November 23, 2018: Thanksgiving in Paterson

Today Andy and I are getting ready to head to a Star Wars production down the shore. We’re going to watch A New Hope, with an orchestra playing the music throughout the entire film. I love the first Star Wars trilogy, so it should be a fun time experiencing the movie with an orchestra. It beats heading to the mall. Malls get insane on Black Friday!

Thanksgiving in Paterson was very entertaining. My niece Ana has really come into her own. School has benefitted her in speaking her mind, and she’s certainly the ‘leader’ among her cousins and friends! The most adorable thing I noticed is that all of the girls at the house had the same curly hairstyle. I thought it was wonderful that their moms embraced their natural hair, and they’re all wearing it proudly! I’m much more relaxed about hair, especially since I know how to care for my wavy hair more easily.

It was great seeing my grandparents as well. My grandfather has not been feeling his best these past few months, so it’s been such a gift to spend time with him. He will be 90 next year. Most of the time he says ‘I’m waiting for ‘the trip’ right now’, with regards to his health. It’s hard for us to hear him speak that way, and most of time we wave our hands and say, ‘come on, you still have a lot of life left’. Yet we all know that life always changes. It’s difficult for me to see him not as active as he once was. So I cherish the time we do spend together, especially holiday celebrations.

November 21, 2018: NaNoWriMo progress, and Thanksgiving

It’s the final third of NaNoWriMo. I’m really excited about that. I’ve been doing my best in writing every day. It will be fun to finally upload my whole draft onto the site. I’ll just need to move a couple things around before submitting it. Hopefully it won’t require a million hoops to validate it. I will look through it this weekend.

Tomorrow will be exciting, since I’ll be seeing my family in Paterson. It will be great seeing my grandparents and niece. I’ll be able to bring them some keepsakes also.

Everything worked out with the medical stuff yeaterday. It always takes a wait longer than I anticipated, but everything checked out, thankfully.

Tonight can’t come soon enough!

November 20, 2018: Health & Family

This morning I have an appointment for (hopefully) the last time. I feel okay for the most part, but it helps to make sure everything checks out. I never thought that I would need to address different health concerns this year. I guess it’s helpful to address them now, rather than putting them off.

Only a couple more days for the work week! I look forward to seeing my family soon. Seeing my niece is a big highlight.

November 19, 2018: Monday Mornings

For the first time in a while, I actually got all the things completed that I needed to do for today. Usually prepwork takes a few hours to do for me, but ot actually went fairly quickly. I had some time to write before it became very late. It’s hard to function when I write my notes after 9, but finishing my prepwork before it gets late is a plus.

Hopefully my week can pass by fairly quickly. It’s a short one (three days), so I can hope that it can go by with minimal stress.

November 18, 2018: Sunday Thoughts

  • This Thanksgiving will have a new kind of stress for me. I think it’s the first time that I’m handling such a dilemma. Of course, the answer for me is clear, to make the best choice for my life and family. It should be interesting to see how this unfolds in the next few days.
  • My progress in NaNoWriMo is still moving steadily. I’ll need to do some moving around before the end of the month. Hopefully it won’t be a huge pain.
  • Looking forward to the four day weekend. That, at least, is a positive!

November 17, 2018: Seeing Family

In a few days I’m going to see my family for Thanksgiving. I always look forward to seeing my relatives, even though they have their quirks at times. I think that comes with every family though. I very much want to see how my grandfather is feeling. He’s been very under the weather for the past few weeks. This might call for an earlier visit, if he is feeling ill.

I’m also looking forward to seeing my niece Ana. She is getting so big! The last time I saw her, she was saying how much she loved school. Hopefully those feelings stayed the same!
