Every time the Christmas season rolls around, I get excited about preparing Coquito to bring to parties and gatherings. Coquito is a popular drink from Puerto Rico, a lovely blend of rum and coconut with other items to give extra flavor.
From the first time I had Coquito years ago, I enjoyed the flavor and extra kick of alcohol. Its taste is similar to eggnog, yet with an adult flavor. I usually make Coquito with the following ingredients:
- 1 can of evaporated milk
- 1 can of condensed milk
- 16 oz of white rum (I love using Bacardi)
- 2 cups Cream of Coconut (you can purchase 1 15oz can of your favorite type. I personally enjoy Goya or Coco Lopez)
- 1 tsp of Vanilla extract
- Some nutmeg to taste
Blend all of these ingredients together, then chill in the refrigerator for an hour. Your coquito will then be ready to drink!
It’s best to enjoy Coquito in the company of friends, and always remember to drink responsibly!
