We Must Not Stay Silent

These past two weeks has been such a heartbreaking learning experience about the racial divide in America.

Racism has never left us, and it’s left me saddened and frustrated.

It’s been an eye-opening experience in seeing which of my friends are vocal about the racism running rampant in this country, and who chooses to stay silent.

What happened to George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and the countless other Black Americans killed for no reason at all is just disgusting. My heart breaks just thinking of their families left to grieve such senseless deaths.

If you’re searching for ways to assist the Black Lives Matter movement, here are some ways you can support:

Sign Petitions

Change.org reveals many petitions to sign and make your voices heard!

Donate

The Minnesota Freedom Fund is doing amazing work to assist protestors who are currently held.

GoFundMe is a valuable resource to search and contribute to those in need of assistance. I’ve linked Breonna Taylor’s page as one of the sites to donate.

Unicorn Riot is an independent news organization that’s at the forefront of the Minneapolis protests.

Support Black Owned Businesses

There are so many businesses led by Black men and women that deserve equal recognition:

12 Black Owned Bookstores You Can Support Right Now This article highlights some awesome places with Black owners at the forefront. The Lit Bar in the Bronx is one of the places featured, and it’s a fabulous spot!

We must all do our part. Listen. Support. Make your voices heard. We must not stay silent.

  1. “who chooses to stay silent”-it’s that kind of shaming that makes me believe a lot of this keyboard warrior stuff is more about proving how good you are than actually doing anything.
Please stop pressuring people to keyboard warrior.

    1. Thank you for your opinion!

‘Who chooses to stay silent’ is a good question! I feel that it’s important to make some kind of contribution, even if it’s a small one.

The main point to keep in mind is that hatred against one another because of race still exists, and it’s horrible.
