My Review

**I received a complimentary copy of Rice & Rocks from Hear Our Voices Book Tours. All thoughts and opinions are my own.**

Finally, a children’s book that speaks to my younger self! Rice & Rocks is a heartwarming story about culture and traditions. Giovanni gets help from his loving Auntie and Jasper ( a magical parrot) to embrace his beloved family dinner rituals.

Being Puerto Rican myself, reading this story was a breath of nostalgia! When I was younger, rice and beans ruled family dinners. Our meals paired with lively conversation. Although our days varied, Rice and Beans was a permanent dinner staple. How I cherished those blessed moments with loved ones!

Sandra L. Richards creates a diverse world in Rice & Rocks. Giovanni visits many countries that holds food traditions in high regard. Also, Megan Sullivan’s illustrations spring to life! Each country Giovanni visits are vibrantly depicted. It’s as if we are really visiting each country!

In summary, Rice & Rocks is indeed a story children will adore! It’s a tale filled with teachable moments. Children will no doubt embrace this lovely story!
