Weekend Reads | Saturday Reading Blog

This weekend I have some great book club selections! I love my book clubs, since they share lively discourse and provide new reading material!

I’m have two weekend reads. One if SFF, while the other is Historical Fiction!

Weekend Reads. The Rage of Dragons by Evan Winter. Link: https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1553927196l/41952489.jpg

The Rage of Dragons by Evan Winter

I’m 40% through The Rage of Dragons. I enjoy the nonstop action in this remote desert region! Additionally, Tau’s story is both emotional and captivating! He is certainly a man on a mission!

This is the B2Weird Book Club October pick. @brisbookish hosts this great book group. She highlights SFF (Sci-Fi/Fantasy) reads every month!

Weekend Reads. Disappearing Earth by Julia Phillips. LInk: https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1541103539l/34563821._SY475_.jpg

Disappearing Earth by Julia Phillips

Disappearing Earth is Historical Fiction, with a touch of mystery. This book was my local library’s October pick. At first I thought I wouldn’t enjoy a ‘missing person’ tale. However, it drew me in after the first couple chapters!

Furthermore, Disappearing Earth‘s chapters are ‘months’. Each section follows a different community member. In spite of the endless quest in finding these sisters, we learn about a community stuck in different directions.

Indeed, I’m glad to discover these book clubs, since I now have intriguing tales in my collection!

Saturday Reading Blog | August 15

This Saturday Reading Blog is coming to you from an overcast morning in Central NJ. It wasn’t supposed to be so cloudy! Hopefully your weekend has better weather, wherever you’re living!

I spent this week editing and submitting a piece for BOOKRIOT. I’m a contributor, and this is the first of two pieces I’m working on that’s poetry based. I love writing for this diverse publication!

I’m still reading The Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas. I’m at the halfway point, and things seem like they’re reaching a turning point between Yadriel and Julian. I’m really liking this book! I’ll share my full thoughts next week, on my Hear Our Voices BT tour stop.

I’m also going to begin The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine. I still have a few days to read it before my book club meeting!

Saturday Reading Blog | August 8

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

So far my Saturday is going very slowly. I didn’t sleep too well last night, so after breakfast my morning consisted of scrolling through Instagram, and calling my family. Since Saturdays are meant for relaxing, it’s totally okay!

Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas. Uncorrected Digitlal Galley. Swoon Reads
Thank you Edelweiss+ and Swoon Reads for this copy of Cemetery Boys!

I also did some reading! I’m on Chapter 4 of Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas. It’s such an amazing read…Latinx characters with a supernatural theme. I love that Yadriel is determined to show his family that he can become a brujo. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

I hope to finish Cemetery Boys by the end of the weekend, so then I can start my library book club selection The Last Mrs Parrish by Liv Constantine. I’ve been hearing a lot about this book!

Saturday Reading Blog | July 18

I’m currently reading Take a Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert. I’m so glad to read Dani’s story of romance, even if it began unexpectedly! I’ve grown to love Hibbert’s characters, especially the men. They have such a soft spot for romance!

I also began reading Tank’s Forever Home by Carol Kim. It’s a middle grade story about some children helping a Bull Mastiff find the home of his dreams! It’s such an endearing read!

I’m currently reading ‘The Dutch House’ by Ann Patchett. I’m glad to have this opportunity to read one of her stories! Patchett recently made a visit to my area (before the virus hit), and it was a packed crowd! I can’t recall which book store it was, but it’s one I regularly visit.

I also read ‘The Owl Diaries’, Books 1 & 2! This is definitely a relaxation read! Owl Diaries is on my district’s list for students entering 1st grade. Since my niece is entering 1st grade this year, I thought it would be perfect to check it out before passing it along. I love owls!

Saturday Reading | Upcoming Plans

When Life Gives You Mangos by Kereen Getten.

My Saturday reading is off to a promising start!

I finished ‘When Life Gives You Mangos’ by Kereen Getten. I absolutely adored this book! It’s a very moving Middle Grade story set in the Caribbean. Clara has many feelings to sort through after a horrible storm hit a year ago, and issues are confronted. My review of ‘When Life Gives you Mangos’ is soon!

Saturday Reading: The Existence of Amy by Lana Grace Riva.

My next story will be ‘The Existence of Amy’ by Lana Grace Riva. From the little I’ve read so far, It’s about a woman handling OCD. Thank you so much to the author for sending me a copy, I look forward to diving in!

Saturday Reading: Catching Up

My Saturday reading consists of two NetGalley arcs. They are both Middle Grade: one is about animal adoption, while the other involves an island community. Saturday reading is so relaxing, and middle grade stories are just right for pacing.

I spent my week editing articles, so I paused my reading progress. While I’m learning how to multitask, it’s always been a challenge. I hope I learn how to balance my time more effective before September. Juggling reading, blogging, and work life will be quite a show!

My Saturday reading are as follows:

When Life Gives You Mangoes by Kereen Getten

A community comes together after a hurricane impacts their island!

Tank’s Forever Home by Carol Kim

A loving family help Tank, a Bull Mastiff, find a caring home!
