Friends Make the Life Journey Smoother

**My friends Melinda and David took the wonderful group pic after the show!**

Yesterday Andy and I went to Montclair to catch The Cult and Spirit Animal perform at the Wellmont Theater. My friend Melinda is a huge fan of Spirit Animal, so when the chance finally arrived for me to see them, Melinda and I were both excited! Spirit Animal played an awesome set, and I got to hang out with Melinda and her husband Dave for a bit afterwards.

I’m so thankful to have this chance to enjoy life outside the work/home cycle. It’s been months since I last went to a show, so the entertainment was needed. And it’s felt like forever since I last hung out with my dear friends. While I love time with my husband, it’s wonderful to share time with my friends as well!

While waiting for Melinda and Dave to meet us at a diner, Andy and I were enjoying the stunning views of the New York City skyline!

My Mother, Always a Guardian Angel

Today Andy and I are visiting my mom’s resting place in Clifton. Tomorrow would have been Mom’s 67th birthday. Since tomorrow’s weather calls for a messy, wintry mix, the hour commute to Clifton would be unsafe to travel.

My mother is never too far from my thoughts. This year marked some significant life events, and I wish she was physically by my side to celebrate with me. I take some comfort in knowing that my mom is always present in my life. However, the silence left by her absence feels too much.

As Andy and I visit Mom today, I’m going to remember her calm nature during our phone conversations and visits. I’m going to keep in mind how much Mom always wished for the best in my life. She is always my guiding light.

Time With Family Is So Valuable

Thanksgiving is coming around the corner! My husband and I spend Thanksgiving with both families. During the day we spend time with Andy’s family, and the evening is spent with my loved ones. Since my grandfather is enduring some health difficulties, I’m very grateful when we get to celebrate another holiday together. I’m very excited that next weekend I’ll be seeing my grandparents and 5 year old niece. She’s quite an energetic child! While family gatherings are filled with tensions and stresses, I’m still looking forward to catching up with relatives. I haven’t been to Paterson in a month!

I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

The Wheel of Life Always Turns

The original source for Today my husband and I attended a birthday party. It was for a 1 year old, and when it comes to babies at parties, he was certainly calm! He had cake for the first time today, and ot was adorable watching him eat it!

Watching this little guy take part in play and family fun brought to mind A.A. Milne’s ‘Now We Are Six’. It’s an enlightening book of children’s poetry celebrating life’s daily happenings with children. I read some of A.A. Milne’s work while working on my ‘poetry for children’ thesis at graduate school. It was so valuable!
