Synopsis

2 floors. 55 steps to go up. 40 more to the crib.

Since Rebecca Gray was diagnosed with a degenerative eye disease, everything in her life consists of numbers. Each day her world grows a little darker and each step becomes a little more dangerous.

Following days of feeling like someone’s watching her, Bec awakes at home to the cries of her son in his nursery. When it’s clear he’s not going to settle, Bec goes to check on him.
She reaches in. Picks him up.
But he’s not her son.
And no one believes her.

One woman’s desperate search for her son . . .

In a world where seeing is believing, Bec must rely on her own conviction and a mother’s instinct to uncover the truth about what happened to her baby and bring him home for good.

My Thoughts

**I received ‘Until I Find You’ through NetGalley and St. Martins Press, in exchange for an honest review**

‘Until I Find You’ follows the story of Rebecca Gray as she fights to recover her son after vanishing without warning.

As a single mother living with a degenerative eye condition, Rebecca already has the odds stacked against her. In addition to her health, Rebecca is also grieving the death of her husband. This makes for a daunting challenge to fight through! We are given a detailed account of everything Rebecca endures as she rebuilds a sustainable life for both herself and Jackson, her son.

Although Rebecca’s diminishing sight threatens to steal Rebecca’s independence, this never stops her from doing everything possible in searching for Jackson. Her story is an uphill climb from start to finish, and it constantly left me wondering what obstacle might roll into her path next!

This is Rea Frey’s third book, in which she writes about the lengths people would take in order to establish safety for their children. ‘Until I Find You’ not only focuses on a mother’s love, but the strong will a mother holds in her heart that deflects challenge. A mother will fight for her children, no matter how many times doubt tries to creep into her soul. This story certainly left a lasting impression in my heart!

I recommend ‘Until I Find You’ for those who enjoy stories with strong characters fighting change, when insurmountable odds are stacked against them. You will enjoy this story!

I have two digital review copies to share with you. I received these books from NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own!

Thank You, Miyuki by Roxane Marie Galliez
Illustrated by Seng Soun Ratanavanh
Length: 32 pages
Genre: Children’s Fiction
Publisher: Princeton Architectural Press
Release Date: September 1, 2020

My Thoughts

I adored this story about a child and her grandfather bonding through mindfulness and meditation. Miyuki is fascinated with her grandfather’s morning meditation ritual, so he guides her through the process. Using real life experiences, Miyuki’s grandfather teaches her how to stay mindful while staying aware of her surroundings.
The bond between Miyuki and her grandfather is simply precious! I also enjoyed the eye-catching illustrations on every page. This would be a very useful book for children to marvel at the beauty of a spring and summer day during moments of calm!

My Thoughts

Rebecca’s journey in proving her son’s absence was truly intense! As a young mother handling a degenerative eye condition, Rebecca already has the odds stacked against her. The journey in finding her son adds another arduous task to an already stacked list of challenges!

Rebecca’s life turns like a tide as her condition slowly threatens to take over her life, which adds to the tension in this tale. Until I Find You had me constantly wondering what would happen next in Rebecca’s plight. It will definitely leave readers on edge!

I’m currently reading two books:

A Woman’s Place: Inside the Fight for a Feminist Future by Kylie Cheung

A huge thank you to Edelweiss and North Atlantic Books for providing me this digital copy! Kylie Cheung shares her experiences as a feminist at the forefront of the Fourth Wave. She brings to light the strong presence social media possesses to promote women’s issues, as well as the hurtful effects of mysogyny and miscommunication.

Until I Find You by Rea Frey

Today I’m about a third of the way through Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson. I love Elisabeth’s interactions with Nathaniel! She’s broadening her understanding about other magical folk around her while she is fighting to clear her name.

I also began reading ‘Until I Find You’ by Rea Frey. This is Frey’s third novel. I like the journey the main character is undertaking as she faces extreme challenges!
