My Book Blogging Life

I’ve been blogging about bookish interests for over a year. While I’m still fairly new to the community, my passion for reading has accompanied me my entire life!

My favorite genres:

–Historical Fiction

While I normally don’t gravitate towards Non-Fiction, I also love reading these titles! Some Non-Fiction titles I enjoyed:

The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates by Wes Moore
It was so absorbing to read about the parallel lives of two men whole life paths were altered by chance.

The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace: Brilliant Young Man Who Left Newark for the Ivy League by Jeff Hobbs
What initially drew me into this novel was the setting (I attended college in the Newark area), and learning about Robert Peace’s story was very telling about the struggles people face in leaving a challenged environment.

Becoming by Michelle Obama
I loved Michelle Obama’s story about her life growing up in Chicago, fighting to make a change for her community.

Reading Lolita in Tehran by Azar Nafisi
Reading Lolita in Tehran was such a riveting story about a small community turning to one another through reading in the days leading up to the Iranian Revolution.

I also have a passion for Poetry Therapy. This is a field within the creative arts network, implementing poetry, journaling, and writing to foster healing. The International Academy for Poetry Therapy has an active network of practitioners (myself included) residing in several countries!

My involvement in iaPOETRY motivated me to create my first collection of poetry in 2013, ‘A Blossoming Journey’, through Lulu Press! I’m hard at work working on my second collection of poetry!
